Robert George McMaster, 74, of Elmore died suddenly at his home Tuesday, March 27, 2007. He was born November 19, 1932 in Deshler, OH to the late George and Nancy L. (Butler) McMaster. He was a graduate of Deshler High School before serving in the United States Navy and later the United States Army during the Occupation of Germany. On June 30, 1963 he married Ruth Swartz and she survives. Robert was in Research and Development for Glasstech Inc., Perrysburg, OH where he retired in 1993. He then worked for McMaster Motors in Perrysburg for a few years. Mr. McMaster was an inventor. He holds 9 different United States Patents, the first coming in 1971 and the latest in 2002. Most of his Patents dealt with his employment at Glasstech where he created a furnace to heat tempered glass for automobiles. He also holds a Patent on the McMaster Motor, a rotary engine using a nonpetroleum fuel source. He was a member of Solomon Lutheran Church in Woodville and American Legion Post 279 in Elmore. Survivors include his wife, Ruth of Elmore, son Donald R. McMaster of Oak Harbor, daughter Julie Ann (Mark Spiess) McMaster of Toledo, OH, brothers: Dexter McMaster of Perrysburg, Clarence McMaster of Mahomedi, Minn., sisters: Bertha Rutter and Reva Christman both of Deshler, OH, Leona Schwartz and Barbee Fintel both of Perrysburg, Erma Cluckey and Loretta Jane Dennis both of Genoa, OH, and 2 grandsons Jack and Nathaniel Spiess. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Earl and Harold McMaster, and sisters Hazel Larimer and June McMaster. Visitation will be from 2-8pm Thursday with the family present from 2-4 & 6-8pm at the Crosser Funeral Home, Elmore. Funeral Services will begin at 11am Friday, March 30, 2007 at Solomon Lutheran Church, Woodville with Rev. William Duty and Pastor Karl F. Ribbeck officiating.
