Robert A. Nixon, 88, of Oak Harbor, OH, passed away Saturday, July 14, 2018 at Magruder Hospital, Port Clinton, OH. He was born in Wichita, Kansas on September 28, 1929, a son of Alvin & Mary (Weeks) Nixon. Bob was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War, serving on the USS Leyte, and was a member of V.F.W. Post #8732, Oak Harbor. He was also a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Oak Harbor. A 28 year employee of the former Standard Products Company, Port Clinton, Bob retired in 1991. He was a devoted fan of the Cleveland Indians and the Cleveland Browns. On September 18, 1955, Bob married the former Joyce Smith, and she survives. Also surviving are their children, David (Anne) Nixon, Pickerington, OH, Ann (James) Hunt, Aloha, Oregon, John (Beverly) Nixon, Santa Ana, California, Cindy (James) Baumgartner, Oak Harbor; Grandchildren, Dania Nixon, Melissa Shimp, Ryan Hunt, Steven Hunt, Dominic Nixon, Kayler Baumgartner, and Emma Baumgartner; and Great-Grandchildren, Michael Moore III, and W. Thomas Shimp. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Wendell Nixon. Friends may call from 2-8 P.M. Thursday at Crosser Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Oak Harbor, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday. Pastor David Hendricks will officiate, and interment will follow at Salem Township Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor, with V.F.W. Post #8732 and American Legion Post #114 conducting graveside rites. Following the services, a luncheon will be held at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church. Those planning on making memorial contributions are asked to please consider St. John Ev.
