Robert A. Hemminger

Robert Albert “Butch” Hemminger, 61, of Woodbine, GA died suddenly Friday, December 29, 2006 at Shands Hospital in Jacksonville, FL. He was born August 24, 1945 in Port Clinton, OH to Vernon and Edythe (Stettler) Hemminger. He was a graduate of Oak Harbor High School, received his Associate of Science in Education from Bowling Green State University, Bachelor of Science in Education from Miami University, Oxford, OH, and his Master’s Degree in Education from Southern Mississippi State. He retired in 2000 as Assistant principal and Counselor from Camden County High School, Kingsland, GA. Butch had resided in Woodbine since 1977 where he was a member of the Woodbine United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Volunteers in Mission. He was an active member in the Woodbine Lions Club, Toys for Tots Program, and volunteered his time with the Okefenokee Refuge. He is survived by his sons Justin and Austin Hemminger of Woodbine, GA., mother Edythe Hemminger of Oak Harbor, sisters Sharon Boldt of Sharpsburg, GA, Barbara Banky of Graytown, OH, Patricia McLaughlin of Elmore, OH, and Gloria Krauss of Oak Harbor. He was preceded in death by his maternal & paternal Grandparents and father Vernon on June 2, 2003. Services will begin at 2pm Saturday, January 13, 2007 at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Oak Harbor with the Rev. David A. Voll officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor. In Lieu of flower the family requests memorial contributions to Skills U.S.A. Program, c/o Camden County High School, Kingsland, GA, or St. Paul United Church of Christ.
