Rita Lynn Meister

Rita Lynn Meister, 64, of Catawba Island, Ohio died Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at Edgewood Manor Nursing Center in Port Clinton, Ohio after a 5 year battle with cancer. She was born on November 29, 1948 in Delaware, Ohio, the daughter of the late Howard E. and Erma E. (Krause) Russell. On February 14, 1974 she married Stephen W. Meister and he survives. Rita worked as a realtor for several years in Mansfield, Ohio and then worked in the newspaper advertising department in Vermilion, Ohio for many years. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Port Clinton. Rita and Steve loved being on the water as they enjoyed taking boat trips together throughout the great lakes. She also loved gardening, especially doing landscape projects outside in the yard. Most importantly, she loved being with her grandchildren as they were the apple of her eye. Survivors include her husband, Steve; daughters: Kimberly "Kimmi" (Peter) Dillon, Virginia; Katherine "Katie" (Dan) Behrens, Sandusky, Ohio; grandchildren: Jude, Simon "Pio", and Felix Dillon, Alexis Behrens; and sister-in-law: Sara (David) Buchanan, Raleigh, North Carolina. She was preceded in death by her parents and her grandson: Zachary "Zac" Behrens. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 21, 2013 from 2-4 and 6-8pm at the Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, 1124 Fulton Street, Port Clinton, Ohio. On Friday, November 22, 2013 prayers will begin at the funeral home at 10am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30am at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 414 Madison Street, Port Clinton, with Father John C. Missler officiating. Burial will follow in Catawba Island Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
