Ricky A. Wharton, 57, of Oak Harbor, Ohio, died unexpectedly at his residence on Saturday, October 19, 2013. He was born on August 13, 1956 in Port Clinton, Ohio, a son of the late James Robert and Pearl Bessie (Neff) Wharton. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving his country during the Vietnam War. He formerly worked at U.S. Gypsum in Port Clinton as a line operator until his retirement in 2009. Rick enjoyed being a handyman, as he would try to make something before he would settle on buying it. He also loved to be on the computer, mostly to design programs. He enjoyed spending time at home, playing his guitar, and at one time he raised goats as he was an avid animal lover. Survivors include his daughter: Jeanette (Robert) Glovinsky, Sandusky, Ohio; granddaughter: Sophia Glovinsky; brother: Terry (Betty) Wharton, Marblehead, Ohio; sister: Cindy (Donny) Dustin, Republic, Ohio; step-sister: Nancy (Jack) Howland, Hillsboro, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. Per Rick's wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 23, 2013 from 5-8pm at the Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, 1124 Fulton Street, Port Clinton Memorial contributions may be made to his daughter, Jeanette.
