Richard W. Domrose

Richard W. Domrose, 82, of Oak Harbor, Ohio, died Thursday, November 26, 2009 at his home. He was born March 16, 1927 in Oak Harbor to the late William F. & Verna (Bodenstein) Domrose. He was a 1945 graduate of the former Salem-Oak Harbor High School. On June 9, 1951, he married the former June Leaser and she survives. Mr. Domrose was employed by the United States Department of Defense, retiring in 1982. He worked at the former Erie Army Depot in Port Clinton from 1947-1966 then transferred to Columbus, OH where he worked at Defense Construction Supply Center from 19661982. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force during WW II. He was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Oak Harbor and the Fremont Moose Lodge. He enjoyed farming, traveling, camping and in his younger years bowling and dancing. He was an avid fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cleveland Indians. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, June of Oak Harbor; sons, William L. Domrose of Oak Harbor, Robert R. (Janet) Domrose of Carroll, OH; daughters, Susan C. Domrose of Columbus, OH, Linda M. (Steve) Wolgamot of West Mansfield, OH; brother, Albert C. Domrose; grandchildren, Shannon, Tania, Jamie, Matthew, and Nicholas; and great- grandchildren, Taylor and Jordan. He was preceded in death by a brother, Ramon G. Domrose. The family will receive friends from 2-4 & 7-9 P.M. Sunday at Crosser Funeral Home, Oak Harbor, where funeral services will be held at 1:00 Monday, November 30, 2009. The Rev. Keith Hunsinger will officiate, and interment will be in Rusha Cemetery, Carroll Township, where military graveside rites will be provided by American Legion Post #114 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #8732, both of Oak Harbor.
