Richard Smith

May 6, 1930 — June 30, 2011

Richard "Dick" Vincent Smith , 81, of Oak Harbor died July 30, 2011. He was born May 6, 1930 in Dayton, OH. He served in the military during the Korean War. He married Carol Louise (Tewers) Smith in 1950 and they had 2 children: Robbin Lee and David Tod, both of whom survive them. Mr. Smith was a business man who successfully owned and ran 2 high-end furniture stores and retired in Florida in 1989 with his wife. He did volunteer work in Florida and later in Ohio at Magruder Hospital after returning to Oak Harbor following the death of his wife in 2004. Mr. Smith was an avid gardener and artist who had numerous showings of his wood carvings throughout the years; a house he built soon after his marriage in 1950 still stands in Port Clinton today. He was a voracious reader and once committed himself to read every book in a local library. Mr. Smith was a loving and devoted husband and father. His wisdom and quick laugh will be sorely missed by all that knew him.
