Richard Powers

Richard S. Powers, 96, of Port Clinton died Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010 at Edgewood Manor Nursing Home, Port Clinton, OH. He was born May 30, 1914 in Toledo, OH the son of John and Mary (Gerlach) Powers. He married Victoria Kosakowski and she preceded him in death. He later married Velva Taylor and she preceded him in death. Mr. Powers was a Dental Technician, flew his own plane and as a builder, he built Put-in-Bay's first motel, the "Bay-Tel". He was a member of Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church, Put-in-Bay. He was a member of the first graduating class of Toledo Central Catholic High School. Surviving are his daughters: Patricia Powers-Paige of Catawba Island, Gloria (Eugene) Kindt of Put-in-Bay, Carolyn Davis of Sandusky, Susan (Bill) Latham of Put-in-Bay; 14 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchidlren; brothers: Tom (Ann) Powers of Medina, John Powers of Toledo; sister: Rosemary (Bill) Nietz of Indiana. He was preceded in death by his parents, wives, brothers: Bernard and Eugene Powers. Memorial services will be conducted 11:00 am Saturday, December 10, 2010 at Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, Port Clinton. Interment will be at a later date in Mapleleaf Cemetery, Put-in-Bay, OH. Memorial contributions may be given to the donor's choice.
