Richard Metzger

On November 9, 2005, Richard “Dick” Metzger passed away peacefully at his home in Elmore, Ohio, surrounded by his family. Dick conducted the final three years of his life battling cancer with great strength, unparalleled dignity and fierce determination. The strong support and LOVE of his best Friend, Wife and Soul Mate of 20 years, Marilyn (Hohman) Metzger, helped him through this difficult time. Dick enjoyed the friendship of many, as he was the owner of the Portage Inn of Elmore Ohio. P.I. customers will remember Dick for many years to come, as they always knew they could see his smiling face and enjoy good food and spirits with him. For relaxation, Dick enjoyed an occasional round of golf and the outdoors. He especially enjoyed his time watching “His Eagle” fly down the Portage River. His beloved wife, best friend of 20 years, Marilyn (Hohman), survives. In addition, Dick is survived by his Mother & Father, Patricia & Norb Metzger. Brothers, Tom (Anita) & Joe (Dana), Sisters: Cathy (Ken) Plante & Connie (Jim) Flahie. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews from the Hohman family of the Tiffin, Ohio area and the Metzger family of Toledo, OH. The family will receive friends and family from 2:00-9:00pm, Friday Nov. 11, 2005 at the Crosser Funeral Home, Elmore, OH. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 12th at 10:30am, Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Genoa, OH. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
