Richard L. Mulligan, 81 of Port Clinton, OH died a peaceful death on October 10, 2011 at Riverview Health Care Campus in Oak Harbor. He was born June 10, 1930 in Oak Harbor, OH to the late Edward and Dorothea (Renwand) Mulligan. He attended Oak Harbor High School and married the former Laurabelle Dubbert in 1955. He was co-owner of Mulligan LP Gas where he retired in 1979. Up until his illness he worked at Bassett's Hardware in Port Clinton. In addition to work, Richard was an Army veteran and a member of the V.F.W., American Legion, and lifetime member of Amvets all in Sandusky, OH. Richard was also a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed riding snowmobiles, hunting, and traveling. Left to cherish his memory are a wide circle of friends and his family, including spouse Laurabelle of Port Clinton; sons: Andrew (Angie) Mulligan of Fremont, OH and John (Debra) Mulligan of Arizona; brother Jerry (Rose) Mulligan of Missouri; sister Patricia Hairston of Port Clinton; six grandchildren; two great- grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Jack Mulligan. Visitation will be Monday from 2-8pm with the family present from 2-4 & 6-8pm. Monday evening at Crosser Funeral Home, Oak Harbor, Amvets Post 17 of Sandusky will conduct a service of remembrance beginning at 7pm. Following this service at 7:30pm will be a Parish Wake Service. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. David L. Ritchie at 10am Tuesday, October 18, 2011, at St. Boniface Catholic Church where the body will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor. Following the Committal Service at the Cemetery, the family would like to invite those in attendance and those unable to attend the service to a luncheon at St. Boniface Church at approximately 11:30am.
