Richard L. Mehlow

Richard L. Mehlow, 89, of Fremont, OH died Monday evening, February 16, 2009 at St. Francis Health Care Center, Green Springs, OH. He was born in Oak Harbor, OH, January 4, 1920 to the late Lester and Anna (Tasch) Mehlow. He was a United States Army Veteran serving in Burma, China during World War Two. Following 25 years, Richard retired from Ford Motor Company in Sandusky, OH. He also was a life-long farmer. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Oak Harbor and American Legion Post 0121, Fremont. Richard will be remembered as a devoted husband and father. Survivors include his daughter Marcia (Bill) Rockhold and brother Tom (Mary) Mehlow both of Oak Harbor, 5 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Betty (Tillapaw) in 1967, wife Eileen (Bliss) in 1989, and son Lee in 2004. Visitation will be Thursday from 2-9pm with the family present 2-4 & 7-9pm at the Crosser Funeral Home, Oak Harbor. Services will begin at 1pm Friday, February 20, 2009 at the Funeral Home with Rev. Cheryl Wessel officiating. Burial will be in Salem Twp. Roose Cemetery, Oak Harbor where Military Honors will be provided by American Legion Post 0121.
