Richard L. "Dick" Vanness

Richard L. “Dick” VanNess, 83 of Oak Harbor, OH died unexpectedly Thursday, June 23, 2022 in Oak Harbor. He was born April 24, 1939 in Port Clinton, OH to the late Charles and Loris (Rose) VanNess. On June 13, 1959 he married the former Verna Clere who preceded him in death on February 2, 2009. Dick owned and operated, for over 50 years, Dick’s Body Shop in Oak Harbor. He enjoyed going to car shows, watching NASCAR, and more recently playing bingo. Survivors include his children: Robert (Laura) VanNess of Powhatan, VA, Kelly Berndt of Oak Harbor, OH, and Darrin (Samantha) VanNess of Oak Harbor; grandchildren: Nicholas VanNess, Nicole (Jimmy) Sipe, Libbe (Eddie) Lewis, Kevin (Breanna) VanNess, Kurtis (Bailee) VanNess, Kenny Ray and Cody Berndt; great grandchildren: Taylor, Mason, Olivia, Hudson, Landyn, Zander, Zoey, Havenn, Dawson, Collins, Eli, Clere, Eddie, and Maggie; great- great grandchildren Bentley and Kellen. He was also preceded in death by son Darryl, and granddaughter Jessica. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2-8pm at the Crosser & Priesman Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 301 N. Locust St., Oak Harbor, OH 43449. Funeral Services will begin at 11am on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at the Funeral Home. Interment will be at Elliston Cemetery, Elliston, OH.
