Richard F. "Dick" Meyer, 80, of Oak Harbor, OH, died Friday, February 12, 2016 at Magruder Hospital, Port Clinton, OH. He was born in Sandusky County, Ohio on January 13, 1936 to Carl F. & Della (Meyer) Meyer. On August 31, 1957, Dick married the former Janice Koch, and together they had a son, Jeffery K. Meyer. She preceded him in death on July 17, 1995. On November 21, 1997, he married a long time friend, Mary Lou (Byers) Hetrick, and she survives. Dick worked for the Ohio Turnpike Commission for 30 years, retiring in 1987. He then worked part-time for the Oak Harbor Street Department, mowing the park and other public grounds. An avid bowler, Dick and his son Jeff bowled many father and son tournaments at 20th Century Lanes, Oak Harbor. One of Dick's favorite things was being with his family and watching his grandchildren at their sporting events. He was the oldest original member of the Oak Harbor Athletic Boosters, and received many awards for his work and dedication. Dick was also an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Oak Harbor. He is survived by his loving wife of 18 years, Mary Lou Meyer, his son, Jeff (Rachel) Meyer, Fremont, OH; mother-in-law, Myrtle Koch, Fremont, stepson, Rick (Lisa) Hetrick, Oak Harbor; stepdaughter, Rhonda (Brad) Reiter, Lindsey, OH; grandchildren, Ryan Hetrick, Samantha Meyer, Jacob & Lauren St. Clair, Jordan, Jacob & Taylor Slaymaker; great-grandson, Ryder Stewart; sister, Grace Bookenberger, Holland, OH, and many nieces & nephews. Dick was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Lila Brackett and Corrine Wood. The family will receive friends from 2-9 P.M. Wednesday at Crosser Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Oak Harbor. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, February 18, 2016 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 9789 W. Oak Harbor SE Rd., where friends may call after 10:00 A.M. Thursday. Pastor Cheryl Wessel will officiate, and interment will be in Salem Township Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor. Following the services, a luncheon will be held at the V.F.W. Community Hall, Oak Harbor. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church or the Oak Harbor Athletic Boosters.
