Richard A. "Diz" Lipstraw, 89, of Limestone, OH died Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at his home following a lengthy illness. He was born October 31, 1928 in Graytown, OH to the late Richard and Hilda (Robenalt) Lipstraw. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. On April 19, 1958 he married the former Shirley LaFountain and she survives. Diz worked for Buhrows Implement, now known as Bay Tractor, as a mechanic for 38 years. He was well known in the area as an ace mechanic on old John Deere tractors, balers, and combines, but could really fix just about anything. Following his retirement he enjoyed being outside where he helped Benton Township. mow the cemeteries for quite a few years. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Rocky Ridge. Diz enjoyed watching his grandchildren participate in Oak Harbor sporting events, camping, traveling and stopping in at the "Keg" and "Limestone Tavern" to catch up on the happenings of the area. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Shirley, of Limestone; sons: Allen (Lorie) Lipstraw of Rocky Ridge, OH, Gary (Crystal) Lipstraw of Oak Harbor, OH and Scott Lipstraw of Limestone; daughter-in-law Paulette Lipstraw of Walbridge, OH; sister, Helen (Andy) Nowak of Graytown, OH; sisters-in-law, Carolyn Lipstraw of Lindsey, OH, and Linda LaFountain; brother-in-law, Stanley (Ann) LaFountain, Oak Harbor; grandchildren: Josh (Jamie) Lipstraw, Jake (Samantha) Lipstraw, Jessica (Greg) Loera, Erica (Annie) Lipstraw, Sara (Kyle) Barr; step- grandchildren: Barbara (Dennis) Mazur, and Jamie Brooks; great- granddaughter Mila Lipstraw; and step great-grandchildren: Zachary and Kayla, several nieces and nephews; and his cat, LuLu. He was also preceded in death by his son, Mark Lipstraw; brothers: James and Arlyn Lipstraw; and grandson Sgt. Keith Kline. Visitation will be Thursday from 2-8 pm at Crosser Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Oak Harbor. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 Friday, March 30, 2018 at St. John Lutheran Church Rocky Ridge with the Rev. Holli Burkard officiating. Interment will be at Limestone Cemetery, Limestone.
