Rev. St. Willie B. Hughes

Rev. St. Willie B. Hughes, 92, of Port Clinton, died August 9, 2009 at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo, OH. He was born May 30, 1917 in Middleburg, KY. He married Leola Oneal on May 28, 1983 and she survives. He worked for the U. S. Postal Service in Toledo. He was a member of Brush Arbor Church, Gypsum, N.A.R.F.E. and a Prince Hall Mason. He was a United States Army veteran serving in World War II in the first all black battalion. Surviving are his wife: Overseer Leola Hughes; sons: Elder Douglas E. (Joyce) Sharpey of Lorain, James Dysart of Elyria, Chazarea Sharpey of Port Clinton, Darryl (Kara) Lanier of Fremont; daughters: Loueva Hughes of Manhattan, NY; Gwendolyn McConico of Alabama, Julie Dysart of Elyria, OH, Levoria (Nolberto) Laurel of Port Clinton, Linda Lanier of Port Clinton, brother C. L. Hagman of Oak Ridge, TN; Sisters: Virginia Cousin of Oak Ridge, TN, Coneda Smallwood of Port Clinton; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, friends and relatives. He was preceded in death by his son: Willie B. Hughes. Funeral services will be conducted 12:00 pm, Friday, August 14, 2009 at Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, Port Clinton where visitation will be held Friday from 11:00 am until the time of the service.
