Rev. Duane A. Wrye

Rev. Duane A. Wrye, 90, of Port Clinton died Monday, August 15, 2016 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg, OH. He was born June 20, 1926 in Eldon, MO the son of James A. and Dolly (Zolla) Wry. He married Twila A. Henderson on May 1, 1949 and she preceded him in death on August 9, 2008. Rev. Wrye was the founding pastor of Catawba Baptist Church where he preached for 34 years. He retired from Standard Products, Port Clinton where he was a supervisor. He previously was the Plant Superintendent at Waldock Packing Co. in Sandusky. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and was at Pearl Harbor immediately following the attack. When he was little he was known as "Little Ick" and when he was older he was known in the fishing circles as "Catfish Senior". Surviving are his daughters: Ann (Mike) Yamrick of Catawba Island and Dr. Alice (Barry) Cook of Cleveland; grandchildren: Brian (Corina) Paulsen of Fremont, Doug (Connie) Holly of Amherst, Tim (Suzanne) Holly, Esq. of Delaware, Michelle (Allan) Miller of Fremont, Kristen (Jeremy) Fahl of Cleveland, Melanie Parson of North Carolina; great-grandchildren: Kyle, Alaina and Bella Paulsen, Michael and Robert Holly, Stephanie Sivinski, Bishop, Alexis and Mercedes Fahl, Kathryn Twila and Adaline Holly; brother: Truman Wrye of Barnett, MO. Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 16, 2016 from 6:00 8:00 pm a t Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 1124 Fulton St. Port Clinton, OH. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Wednesday, August 16, 2016 at Port Clinton Baptist Church, 978 S. Limestahl Rd. Port Clinton, OH with Pastor Eddie Reust officiating.
