Rev. Charles W. Rogers

Reverend Charles W. Rogers, 67, of Port Clinton, Ohio died Saturday, April 28, 2007, at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo, Ohio. He was born on November 4, 1939 in Cuyahoga Falls, OH, a son of the late Elias Price & Esther Elizabeth (Smith) Rogers. On August 6, 1958, he married the former Louise Rentschler. Rev. Rogers was a Pastor in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, having served parishes in Reynolds, North Dakota, Ossineke, Michigan, and St. John Lutheran Church, Rocky Ridge, OH. He then served as a youth counselor in Erie County, Ohio for several years. Rev. Rogers later served as Pastor at Trinity Lutheran Church, Monroeville, OH, and St. Paul Lutheran Church, Danbury Township, from where he retired in 2005. Pastor Rogers was also a member of the Ministerial Association. Survivors include his wife: Louise; sons, Mark (Cheryl) Rogers, Troy, OH, and David (Brenda) Rogers, Gibsonburg, OH; daughters: Karen (Tim) Bretz, Sunbury, OH, and Laura (Matthew) Ball, Nashville, TN; Grandchildren, Brock Heath, Ashley Michalke, Scott Rogers, Christopher Rogers, Chad Rogers, Elias Rogers, Samantha Rogers, and Kathrine Bretz; Great-Grandchildren, Majo Poggi and Olivia Michalke; brother, Theodore (Lori) Rogers, Mesa, Arizona; and sister, Murle (Vincent) Harris, Greentown, OH. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Richard Rogers and Wayne Rogers; and sisters, Betty Witner, Nina Mae Justin, and Elwilda Purdy. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. Tuesday, at the Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, Peninsula Chapel, 7755 East Harbor Road, Lakeside-Marblehead. Funeral services will be held at 10 A.M. Wednesday at St. Paul Lutheran Church of Danbury. Bishop Marcus C. Lohrmann of the Northwestern Ohio Synod, ELCA and Pastor Chris Young of St. Paul Lutheran Church will officiate and interment will be in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery.
