Rebecca Ann Scherf

Rebecca Ann Scherf, 66 of Oak Harbor, OH died Wednesday, March 09, 2022 under hospice care at Mercy- St. Charles Hospital, Oregon, OH. She was born September 12, 1955 in Port Clinton, OH to the late Michael L. and Beatrice (Ambrose) Ontko. She was a 1973 graduate of Oak Harbor High School and received her Associate Degree in Accounting from Terra Community College. Becky retired from the Ottawa County Sanitary Engineers Office in 2012. On March 3, 1973 she married Bruce Scherf and he survives. She was an active member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and the American Legion Post #114 both of Oak Harbor. She enjoyed gardening and sewing. Survivors include her husband Bruce of Oak Harbor; son William (Jenny) Scherf of Graytown, OH; daughter Bridget (David Hicks) Scherf of Elmore, OH; grandchildren: Jessica, Brooke, and Chloe Shanteau and Trevor, Abbey and Riley Scherf; great- grandson Donnie; and brother Richard Ontko. She was also preceded in death by her 1st husband Thomas Shanteau, son Robert Shanteau, granddaughter Bailey Scherf, and brother David Ontko. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11am on Friday, March 11, 2022 at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Oak Harbor with the Rev. Timothy F. Ferris celebrant and where the family will receive friends at the Church beginning at 10am. Burial will be held privately at a later date in Salem Township Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor.
