Raymond H. Hendricks

Raymond H. Hendricks, 92, of Gypsum, OH died Sunday, May 18, 2014 at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center, Toledo, OH. He was born October 31, 1921 in Sandusky County, the son of Edward J. and Pearl (Michaels) Hendricks. He married Florence (Truex) Howell on Nov. 29, 1958 and she preceded him in death on March 15, 1993. Mr. Hendricks served in the United States Army during World War II receiving the Purple Heart, the Good conduct medal, the American Theatre ribbon with two bronze stars, the Victory medal and the Combat Infantryman's badge. He served in Scotland, England, France, Luxembourg, Germany, Switzerland and Czechoslovakia. After his service to his country he worked at Whirpool until his retirement in 1983. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Port Clinton, a lifetime member of the Port Clinton V.F.W. and the Eagles Lodge. Surviving are his step-sons: Jerry (Judy) Howell of Gypsum, Richard Howell of Port Clinton; step-daughter: Barbara Lovern of Port Clinton; many grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife: Florence; step-sons: Gary Howell, Gilbert Howell and brother: Gerald Hendricks. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 am Thursday, May 22, 2014 at Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Port Clinton where visitation will be held Thursday from 9:00 am until the time of the service. Rev. James Lehman will be officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Port Clinton with military graveside honors presented by the Port Clinton V.F.W.
