Raymond E. "Brownie" Brown, 70 of Rocky Ridge, OH died Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at Stein Hospice in Sandusky, OH. He was born October 8, 1943 in Port Clinton, OH to the late Howard R. and Madeline (Walters) Brown. On October 21, 1961 he married the former Judith Beekman and she survives. Ray worked for ODOT for 22 years as an operator but retired in 2012 from the Henry W. Bergman Company, Genoa, OH as a truck driver. He was a member of Eagles Lodge of Fremont, OH, and Sons of the American Legion, Oak Harbor. Brownie will best be known serving the Village of Rocky Ridge as Fire Chief for many years. Along with serving on the Ottawa County Fire Chiefs Association, Carroll Township Fire Department, Clay Center Fire Department, the former Oak Harbor Fire Department now Portage Fire Department, and a Board Member of the Mid- County E.M.S.. Survivors include his wife of 52 years Judy Brown of Rocky Ridge, sons: Tim Brown and Randy (Gabriella) Brown both of Rocky Ridge; daughters: Karen Brown of Cleveland, OH, Ann Sandrock of Elizabeth City, NC, Wendy (Chris) Caldron of Grayslake, IL, and Julia Sabo of Oak Harbor; sisters: Janet (Allen) Domokos of Oak Harbor, Betty (Don) Shook of LaCarne, OH, Susan McClanahan of Port Clinton, OH, and Sharon Cooper of Fremont, OH; 19 grandchildren, and 9 great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Thomas Brown, sister Nancy Brown, and grandson Joshua McGrew. Visitation will be Saturday from 2-8pm where the Eagles will hold a service at 4:30pm at the Crosser Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Oak Harbor Chapel. Visitation will again be Sunday from 9am 8pm with Firefighters and E.M.S. honors beginning at 7pm. Funeral Services will begin at 11am Monday, July 21, 2014 at the Funeral Home with Pastor Rick Bickelhaupt officiating. Burial will be in Limestone Cemetery, Benton Township.
