Raul Obregon

Raul Obregon, age 62, died August 14 in Port Clinton, after a long battle with brain cancer. He was born in Elsa, Texas, and was raised in Port Clinton, the son of Juan and Maria Obregon. He was a 1969 graduate of Port Clinton High School. Raul lived in Port Clinton most of his life, he was employed by Immaculate Conception Church and School as a custodian, and later in life worked as a contractor. Raul was a big Port Clinton Redskins fan, going to many basketball and football games, always with his daughters and grandchildren. He also followed the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Pittsburgh Steelers. He grew up in a home where music and dancing was enjoyed, and it was a big part of his life, too. He collected albums, with a wide range of music styles, and enjoyed going to concerts. He also liked to go fishing off Jefferson St. Raul enjoyed being with all the familia, whether it was a birthday party, holiday, or just spending time in conversation. He is survived by his daughters, Kristina Obregon (Kevin Johnson) and Angelina Obregon, both of Port Clinton, grandchildren Jessica and Ryan Johnson, and Olivia Marez, and his former wife, Willie Obregon, father Juan Obregon of Port Clinton, brothers Juan (June) Obregon of Warner Robbins, GA, Abel Obregon of Port Clinton, Jose Obregon of Newport News, VA, sisters Maria Esperanza Hope (Jordan) Davenport of Port Clinton, Rosalia Hakin of Hartford, OH, Diana Obregon of Toledo, OH, Lupe Obregon of Oak Harbor. He will be dearly missed by all of his many nephews and nieces, he gave them his time, laughter and a lifetime of great memories. He was preceded in death by his mother, Maria J. Obregon, and his brother Arthur Obregon. Raul was also blessed to have many who he called friends, and the family thanks them all for their support. He spent his final months in the care of Edgewood Nursing Home, and with Stein Hospice, and the family appreciates all the fine staff who cared for him. Funeral services will be conducted 10:00 am Friday, August 17, 2012 at Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, Port Clinton where visitation will be held Thursday from 4:00 6:00 pm.
