Ralph H. "Rafe" Goldbach

January 11, 1943 — January 19, 2024

Ralph H. “Rafe” Goldbach, Jr., 81, of Marblehead, OH passed away

Friday, January 19, 2024 at Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky, OH.


Rafe was born January 11, 1943 in Pittsburgh, PA the son of the late

Ralph H. and Harriet R. (Bockstoce) Goldbach, Sr. He was the oldest

of five children; Jim (Janice) Goldbach (deceased), Paulette Goldbach,

Debbie (Jim) Radcliff and Mike (Linda) Goldbach. Rafe graduated from

Carrick High School in 1960, took art classes at Carnegie Tech and

later attended the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. After joining the

Army, he served as an Aircraft Operations Specialist in Orleans,

France. Following his tour of duty, Rafe entered the corporate world

where he worked in advertising, marketing, product development and

eventually started his own company, Rafe Goldbach Events, specializing

in Public Relations and Event Planning. During his long career, Rafe

travelled throughout Europe, Hawaii, the Caribbean and the United

States serving his clients.


Surviving are his partner and soulmate, Elizabeth Rand; children Carie

Lynn Goldbach (deceased), Rafe (fiancé, Linda Lee) Goldbach of

Chattanooga, TN, Amy Whetzel (Scott) of Sagamore Hills, OH;

step-children: Jil Cooke, JW (Jill) Jones; grandchildren: Hannah, Eva,

Zachary, Rylee; step-grandchildren: Hailey, Sylvia, Jack and Zoe.


Rafe had a zest for life and many of his hobbies were influenced by

the great outdoors and nature’s beauty. While his real love was

painting, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, skiing and golfing. He

LOVED to entertain and enjoyed cooking and baking for his friends and

family. Rafe was also a self-proclaimed singer/songwriter and enjoyed

playing guitar.


Rafe loved his life in Marblehead, Ohio and had many friends. A

Celebration of Rafe’s Life will be held at a later date.
