Rachel Zapata

Rachel Zapata, 58, of Port Clinton, Ohio died Thursday, May 23, 2013 at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio. She was born on June 10, 1954 in Port Clinton, the daughter of the late Isaias and Mary (Mendoza) Reyes. Rachel formerly owned and operated Underwoods Restaurant in Port Clinton from 1996 until 2006. She was a former member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Port Clinton and recently attended Erie Shores Assembly of God, Port Clinton. She enjoyed being around people and helping others. Survivors include her daughters: Brenda (Carlos Sarabia) Zapata, Maumee, Ohio and Laura (fiance', Moe Carrier) Zapata, Albany, New York; and son: Emiliano "Hondo" (finance', Michelle Rodriguez) Zapata, Port Clinton; grandchildren: Diego Sarabia, Selena Rahm, Hunter Carrier, Isaiah, Xavier, and Zayden Zapata; step grandchildren: Gabe and Cruz Sarabia; and brother: James Reyes, Port Clinton. She was preceded in death by her parents and son: J.J. Zapata. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 29, 2013 from 2-4 and 6-8pm at the Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, 1124 Fulton Street, Port Clinton. On Thursday, May 30, 2013 prayers will begin at the funeral home at 9:30am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 414 Madison Street, Port Clinton, with Father John C. Missler officiating. Burial will follow in Christy Chapel Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
