R. Jim Chapman

R. “Jim” Chapman, 76, of Port Clinton, OH, died Thursday, November 16, 2006 at his residence. He was born on January 21, 1930 in Fremont, Ohio, the son of the late Atys “Chappie” & Ardath (Bredbeck) Chapman. He was employed as an expeditor at Stein Associates in Sandusky, Ohio until his retirement in 1992. On January 30, 1971, he married Marilyn Butts and she survives. He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, Port Clinton; Port Clinton Moose Lodge #1610; Port Clinton Board of Education; served on Port Clinton city council for two terms; and was a former member of the “Downtown Coaches” which is now the Port Clinton Athletic Boosters. He enjoyed fishing and was an avid Cleveland Browns, Indians, and Ohio State Buckeyes fan. Survivors include his wife, Marilyn; son, Richard Chapman, Marion, OH; grandsons, William and Richard Chapman, Port Clinton; sister, Ardath (Chuck) DeGrisky, Oak Harbor; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, William Chapman; and sister: Cathryn Wolf. The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. Tuesday until services at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday at the Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, 1124 Fulton Street, Port Clinton. The Rev. Lisa Peterson will officiate.
