Phyllis A. Lane, 83, of Lakeside, Ohio died peacefully with her family by her side on Saturday, March 30, 2013 at Stein Hospice Care Center in Sandusky, Ohio, after a two month battle with brain cancer. She was born on March 7, 1930 in Marblehead, Ohio the daughter of the late Andrew and Julia (Veverka) Zippi. She graduated from Lakeside High School in 1947. On November 5, 1949 she married George Hudak, Jr. and he preceded her in death on April 20, 1963. She married William F. Lane on March 20, 1965 and he preceded her in death on November 22, 2001. Phyllis was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marblehead where she was a Eucharistic Minister; member of the Altar Rosary Society; an usher; and sang in the memorial choir. Since 2002 Phyllis was on the Board of Directors for the Marblehead Bank, taking over for her late husband, William. At the end of 2012 Phyllis stepped down from the position of board of director at Otterbein North Shore. She helped established the Jane Baker Rehab facility as well as monthly communion services . She was also a Girl Scout Leader for many years during the late 60's and early 70's. Her hobbies included: knitting, crocheting, sewing, cooking, refinishing and upholstering furniture, having lunch with her former classmates once a month, working in her flower gardens and traveling, but most importantly was her love for her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include her daughters: Georgiann (Hudak) Kitchens, Lakewood, Ohio; Patricia (Hudak) and Marc Shupp, Sandusky, Ohio; Michelle (Robert Freeman) Lane, Groveport, Ohio; grandchildren: Philip Shupp, Christopher Kitchens, Andrew Shupp; great-grandchildren: Kailey, Alaina, & Kace Shupp; sister: Marilyn (Zippi) and Angelo Cuttaia, Port Clinton, Ohio; brother-in-law: Thomas G. Lane, Lakeside, Ohio; sister-in-law: Irene Hudak Wiechel, Port Clinton; many nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands; and infant son: Roger Hudak in 1953. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 from 2-8pm at the Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, Peninsula Chapel, 7755 E. Harbor Road, Lakeside-Marblehead, where members of the Altar Rosary Society will pray the rosary at 6:30pm. Additional visitation will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 822 Barclay Street, Marblehead, Ohio on Thursday, April 4, 2013 from 10am until a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am with Father Daniel J. Ring officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Marblehead.
