Paul W. Rothert

Paul W. Rothert, 62, of Elmore, OH, died Monday near his home. He was born in Fremont, OH on October 30, 1943, the son of Carl W. & Eileen (Anstead) Rothert. Paul was a farmer his entire life, having started with his father as a 5 yr. old boy. As a child, he was active in 4-H, and had the grand champion steer at the Ottawa County Fair. He was also active in the F.F.A. where he earned the State Farmer Award. Paul was a member of the National Rifle Association, the Ottawa County Farm Bureau, and Trinity United Church of Christ, Elliston, OH. He was the winner of the 2005 Entrepreneurial Business of Ottawa County. Paul was an avid card player and gun collector, and enjoyed flea markets and mushroom hunting. He was a former OSTPA tractor puller, and had an annual tradition of deer hunting in Pennsylvania for 40 years. Paul married his high school sweetheart, the former Susie Tabbert on August 22, 1964, and she survives. Also surviving is his mother, Eileen Rothert, Elmore, OH; children and grandchildren, Trent W. (Julie) Rothert, Jacob, Emma, and Lily, of Woodville, OH; Todd W. (Shiela) Rothert, Carly and Claire, of Elmore, OH; and Tracy (David) Dresser, Allie, Ben, Sara, and Molly, of Martin, OH; sisters, Faye (Gary) Rhiel, Elmore, OH, and Mary Ann (David) Fegley, Elmore, OH., and his faithful friend, Buck. Paul was preceded in death by his father, Carl W. Rothert. The family will receive friends from 12-9 P.M. Wednesday at the Crosser Funeral Home, Elmore. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday at Trinity United Church of Christ, Elliston, with the Rev. Lowell Peters officiating. Interment will be in Clay Township Cemetery, Genoa, OH. Memorial contributions may be made to the Woodmore FFA Alumni Association, the Ottawa County Humane Society, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
