Paul W. Provonsha

Paul W. Provonsha, 90, of Oak Harbor, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, January 9, 2012 at the Ohio Veterans' Home, Sandusky, Ohio. He was born in Oak Harbor on December 30, 1922 to Andrew (Pete) & Adeline (Addie) Provonsha. Paul was an accountant and bookkeeper for Kirkly Machinery & Supply Company in Toledo. He also was the owner for several years, before selling the business. In the Oak Harbor area, he was a village councilman for eight years and Mayor of the Village of Oak Harbor for four years. In later years, Paul and his son Bob, managed Family Camping Center in rural Port Clinton for 24 years, and more recently Chet's Place Campground. He was active in the local Boy Scout Troup, V.F.W. Post #8732, American Legion Post #114, Past Master of Oak Harbor Lodge #495 F. & A.M., and St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Oak Harbor. Surviving is his wife of 65 years, Mary Martha Provonsha; children, Martha Provonsha, and Bob Provonsha; grandchildren, Emily, Nicole, and Matthew; and brother, Jim Provonsha of Fremont, Ohio. Paul was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Virginia Fausnaugh and Faye Williams, his brother, Joe Provonsha, and an infant son. Visitation will be from 10:30 A.M. until the time of the service at 12:30 P.M Friday at Crosser Funeral Home, Oak Harbor. Pastor Debra Domeier will officiate, and interment will follow at Salem Township Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor. Graveside military rites will be provided by V.F.W. Post #8732 and American Legion Post #113. Memorial contributions may be directed to St. John Ev. Lutheran Church, Stein Hospice, or the Ohio Veterans Home.
