Paul K. Ridenour, M.D.

Dr. Paul K. Ridenour, M.D., 78, of Elmore, OH died Wednesday, December 7, 2005 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg, OH. He was born April 22, 1927 in Elmore to the late Victor C. and Olive (Weaver) Ridenour. He was a 1945 graduate of Toledo Libby High School, 1950 graduate of Capital University, and The Ohio State University School of Medicine. On June 9, 1951 he married the former Julia “Peg” Shipe who preceded him in death on May 29, 2005. Dr. Ridenour started his own family medical practice in 1956 for the community of Elmore, before becoming partners with Dr. E. Kieffer and later with Dr. B.R. Narra. He was also employed by Brush Wellman as a physician where he retired in 1997. Dr. Ridenour was a veteran of the United States Navy, member of the Capital University Chapel Choir where he met his wife Peg, Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Elmore, a Barbershop Quartet called the “Portage Pipers”, Elmore Kiwanis Club, the staff of St. Charles-Mercy Hospital in Oregon where he was also a Past Chief of Staff. He also enjoyed song writing, fishing, and traveling. Dr. Ridenour wrote and published the “Joseph Harris Diary”, and was Elmore’s first Eagle Scout. Survivors include sons Matthew (Lisa) Ridenour of Sylvania, OH, Mark (Denice) Ridenour of Lambertville, MI; daughter Laura (Tim) Baker of Ashland, OH, grandchildren: Angela, Craig, Jeffery, Breeann, Julie, Andrew, Paul, Daniel, and Elizabeth, and 3 great- grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 4-7 P.M. Saturday at the Crosser Funeral Home, Elmore. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, December 11, 2005 at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Elmore, with the Rev. David Nevergall officiating. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Elmore.
