Paul H. Grummel, 84 of Oak Harbor, OH, and formerly of Catawba Island and Sycamore, OH, died Wednesday, August 22, 2007 at Kingston Residence of Perrysburg, Perrysburg, OH. Mr. Grummel was born in Tiffin, OH on August 19, 1923, a son of Fred & Alta (Bienecke) Grummel. He attended Tiffin University prior to enlisting in the army. A U.S. Army Medical Corps veteran of World War II, he served in a hospital unit in England for 3 years. Mr. Grummel was a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge and also was a member of American Legion Post #250 in Sycamore. On July 29, 1945, he married the former Helen Kappauf, and she survives in Oak Harbor. Mr. & Mrs. Grummel operated a Stewart’s Root Beer stand in North Canton, OH for 10 years. In 1960 they opened Gem Beach Trailer Court on Catawba Island and in 1977 they purchased Gem Beach Marina which they operated until their retirement. Mr. Grummel is also survived by his son, Jack (Ginger) Grummel, Catawba Island; daughters, Paula Norwine, Perrysburg, OH, and Ann (Dennis) Kersten, Oak Harbor; sister, Lucille Beaver; grandchildren, Michael (Lisa) Mesnard, Stephanie Mesnard, Mary Ellen Norwine, Brian (Jodi) Kersten, Brad (Sara) Kersten, Kevin (Molly) Kersten, Ann Marie (Nick) Bates, Megan (Steve) Lovitt, and Erin Grummel. Also surviving are 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Ernest Grummel. The family will receive friends from 4-8 P.M. Thursday at the Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, 1124 Fulton Street, Port Clinton, OH. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Oak Harbor, with the Rev. David A. Voll officiating. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 P.M. Friday at Pleasant View Cemetery, Sycamore, OH. Memorial contributions may be made to the memorial fund of St. Paul United Church of Christ.
