Paul F. Lukac, 89 of Port Clinton, OH died Thursday, March 17, 2022 following a short illness. He was born August 2, 1932 in Gypsum OH to the late Joseph and Emma (Mizla) Lukac. He was a 1950 graduate of Port Clinton High School where he was a varsity athlete in several sports and loved to share his experience of running in the state track meet in Columbus! Paul served in the United States Army as a Corporal in a reconnaissance unit from 1952-1954 in the Korean War and made lifelong friends that he enjoyed many reunions with until they were all well into their 70s. On October 13, 1962 he married Joan L. Smorgala. Paul began working for the U.S. Gypsum Company right out of high school and retired in 1977 when he went to work for General Motors at New Departure in Sandusky, Ohio as a Pipe Fitter. Paul never met a stranger and could find a Gypsum, Marblehead or Port Clinton connection with nearly everyone he met no matter where he was. He was active his whole life from softball leagues to practicing sports with his children and caring for his home and his yard. In his later years he loved doing projects with his son in law. People would often describe him as the kindest man they ever met, but he was also known as the fun uncle and told stories that would make you laugh until you cried. He joins many friends and family in heaven to watch his beloved Fighting Irish and play unending rounds of jarts. Survivors include Children: Diane (Chad) Agnes of Columbus, OH and Daniel Lukac of Pittsburgh, PA; grandchildren Brooke (Brock) Kline and David (Juliana) Agnes); great granddaughter Amelia; grand puppies Sophie and Chloe; many nieces and nephews and countless friends. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Joan; his parents; brother, Joseph Lukac and sister, Juliann Branum; brothers-in-law George Biro and JoJo Smorgala and sisters-in-law Nadine Biro and Helen Smorgala.
