Paul E. Thompson, 96, of Port Clinton, OH passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky, OH. He was born April 9, 1923 in Akron, Ohio. He married Betty Hosler on May 31, 1969 and she survives. Paul was a United States Army Veteran serving in World War II and Korea. While serving his country in World War II he participated in the invasion of Normandy, France at Omaha Beach on D-Day, June 6, 1944 thru the final Battle of the Bulge. He then joined the Army Reserves and s sent to Korea when war broke out in 1950. He returned home after one year in Korea and stayed in the reserves until 1962. He was a chemist at Standard Products in Port Clinton, OH. Surviving are his wife: Betty and step-son: Jerry (Ruth Ann) Gore of Granville, MI. Graveside services will be conducted 10:00 am Monday, March 23, 2020 at Riverview Cemetery.
