Paul E. Hermes, 78, of Oak Harbor, OH, died Thursday, January 5, 2017 at the home of his son in Oak Harbor, with his loving family's support through his journey. He was born June 6, 1938 in Oak Harbor, to the late William & Florence (Lochotzki) Hermes. Paul worked over 30 years in Quality Control at Chrysler's Toledo Machining Plant in Perrysburg, OH. He was a 9 year veteran of the Ohio National Guard. Paul was a very active member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, Oak Harbor, and Moose Lodge #1610, Port Clinton, where he served as governor. Survivors include his children: Barry (Billie) Hermes of Oak Harbor, Bryan Hermes of Oak Harbor, Bruce (Rhonda) Hermes of Oak Harbor, Brad Hermes of Toledo, and Veronica (John) Buehler of Fremont; grandchildren, Jim Buehler, Michael Buehler, and Bo Hermes; great grandsons: Jeven Buehler and Bentley Buehler; siblings: Aggie Schiller, Joe Hermes, Jim (Jennie) Hermes, Dorothy (George) Bernard, Ceil (Andy) Frisari, Marie (Steve) Knight, Rosie Hermes, John (Sharon) Hermes, Richard (Paula) Hermes, and Larry (Elaine) Hermes. He was preceded in death by sisters, Roberta and Annie, brother Robert, sister-in-law Diane Hermes, and brothers-in-law, Loren Schiller and Robert Bernard. The family will receive friends from 2-8 P.M. Sunday at Crosser Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Oak Harbor, where a Moose memorial service will be held at 6:00 P.M. and a Parish Wake Service at 8:00 P.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 Monday, January 9, 2017 at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Oak Harbor, with the Rev. Timothy F. Ferris officiating. Interment will follow at Salem Township Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor. Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Boniface Catholic Church.
