Patricia R. Sorg

Patricia Rae Sorg, 93, of Oak Harbor, OH, died Sunday, May 8, 2016 at Riverview Healthcare Campus, Oak Harbor. She was born in Oak Harbor on March 18, 1923, a daughter of Francis E. & Verna M. (Bordeaux) Boomer. On November 28, 1946, she married Don Leaser Sorg, and after more than 65 years of marriage, he preceded her in death on September 16, 2011. Pat took daily care of her husband through 19 years of his recurring brain tumor. Pat was the best mother anyone could hope for, and while raising five children, she was also the bookkeeper for Sorg Builders. She made some of the best cookies and baked goods for both her family and often for carpenter's coffee breaks. While in school, she delivered newspapers in Oak Harbor on her bicycle, sold tickets at a theater and worked for several years after graduation at the former Modernette in Oak Harbor. Pat was a lifetime member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, Oak Harbor, and an active member of the Rosary Altar Society Surviving Pat are her children, Jim Sorg, Calabasas, CA, Richard (Sharon) Sorg, Cincinnati, OH, Tom (Diana) Sorg, Oak Harbor, John (Karla) Sorg, Fremont, OH, and Ann (Jeff) Chio, Oak Harbor; grandchildren, Joy Sorg, Jenny Ramos, Maria Sorg, Jeff Sorg, James McMaken, Nathan Chio, Erin Moss, and Zac Chio. Also surviving are 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her grandson, Christopher Sorg; brothers, Charles and James Boomer; and sisters, Joyce Winklea and Frances Nehls. The family will receive friends from 5:30 8:30 P.M. Tuesday at Crosser Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Oak Harbor. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Oak Harbor, where friends may call after 9:30 A.M. The Rev. Timothy F. Ferris will officiate, and interment will follow at Salem Township Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor. Following the services, a luncheon will be held in the undercroft of St. Boniface Catholic Church.
