Patricia Munn

January 17, 1932 — September 30, 2013

Patricia K. Munn, 81, of Lakeside, OH died Monday, September 30, 2013 at Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky, Ohio. She was born January 17, 1932 to Reginald Arthur "Reg" and Margaret (Bolich) King in Cleveland, Ohio. She was schooled in the Cleveland Heights School System and attended Bowling Green State University. She served as Executive Secretary to 3 agents of New York Life Insurance during her 20 years of employment. Throughout her life she continued to explore, through education, many subjects that interested her. She married Eugene E. LaTourette in 1952 and the cherished children of that marriage are Steven C. (Jennifer) LaTourette of , McLean, VA., Andrew B. (Terrie) LaTourette of Chesterland, OH., Eve (David) Brooksieker of Solon, OH and Sarah (John) Thomas of Willoughby Hills, OH. After the divorce of that union, she married Melvin Dell. Beloved children of that marriage were: Cynthia (Vernon) Webb of Oldsmar, Florida, Kathleen D. (Sanford) Hamann of Catawba Island, OH and Melvin H. (Sharon) Dell, Jr. of Lakeside, OH. She and Mel owned the Lakeside Newsstand and later The Paper Chase in Lakeside. She was widowed upon the death of Melvin H. Dell on September 11, 1990. On June 24, 1995 she married Donald C. Munn and he predeceased her on March 26, 2005. At the time of her death she resided on Monument View Drive in Lakeside. Our mother chose to give back to her community. On the occasion of the rededication of the Ohio Statehouse her hours of volunteerism were honored when the Commissioners of Ottawa County selected her to represent them in Columbus. She represented her local community by her representation on the Danbury Zoning Board. She served on the Ottawa County Senior Advisory Board and she was inducted into the Ottawa County Senior Hall of Fame. Prior to coming to the area she volunteered at the Montessori School in Cleveland Heights as well as in the Cleveland Heights School System. She served on many committees of the Lakeside United Methodist Church, where she was a member for many years, and especially enjoyed her time on the Library and the Home Missions Board. One of her proudest achievements was as an "old woman" she developed an EBay business where she sold vintage postcards. Our mom is survived by her children who were paramount in her life: Cindy, Steven, Andrew, Eve, Sarah, Katie and Chip, her grandchildren: Sarah, Scott, Tim, Robert, Sam, Gordon, Michael, Phoebe, Amy, Clare, Erica, Eric, Jessica, Emily, Emma Rose, Henry and great-grandchildren: Jennifer and Andrew..all dear to her heart. Her happiest hours were spent with her family and memories of games played together and stories shared. Her sister, Kathleen K. Martin survives her as do her nephews. Her brother, James R. King predeceased her as did her parents. In lieu of flowers, if you choose to honor her memory, please consider the Humane Society of Ottawa County, where she adopted her beloved cat, Savannahwho, of course, does not know she is a cat, Stein Hospice for their kindness and compassion or Marblehead Peninsula Lions Club Scholarship Fund. Memorial services will be held 11:00 am Saturday, October 26, 2013 at Lakeside United Methodist Church where the family will greet friends in the parlor from 9:30 am until the time of the service. Private burial services will be held in Sackett Cemetery following the service. Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, Peninsula Chapel, Lakeside-Marblehead, OH is handling arrangements.
