Patricia A. Hairston

Patricia A. (Mulligan) Hairston, 85, of Fremont, OH, and formerly of Oak Harbor, OH, died Monday, August 22, 2022 at Elmwood Assisted Living & Skilled Nursing, Fremont. She was born in Oak Harbor on January 27, 1937, the daughter of Edward & Dorothy (Renwand) Mulligan. Patricia was a graduate of Oak Harbor High School, earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Dayton, and her Master’s degree from Central Michigan University. She worked in personnel and human resources at several large companies, and in social work as an advocate for neglected and abused children. Patricia was smart, compassionate, energetic, and known for her wit and great love of family. She married Joseph Hairston in 1970, and they lived in Albuquerque, NM until Joseph’s death, when Patricia moved back to Ohio to be near her family. Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, Ed & Dorothy Mulligan; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Jack & Jacqueline Mulligan, Richard & Laurabelle Mulligan, and brother, Gerald Mulligan. She is survived by nephews, Mark (Susan) Mulligan, Mike (Anne) Mulligan, Kelly (Andrea) Mulligan, Andrew (Angela) Mulligan, John Mulligan, Brian (Deb) Mulligan; nieces, Jan (Chuck) Avery and Lisa Mulligan, and by former sister-in-law, Rosie Mulligan. Twenty-four great nieces and nephews and sixteen great-great nieces and nephews are left to cherish her memory. A Celebration of Patricia’s life will held at 1pm on Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at Crosser & Priesman Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Oak Harbor Chapel, 301 N. Locust St., Oak Harbor with interment will follow at Salem Township Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor.
