Pastor Jon M. Bell

Pastor Jon M. Bell, went to be with his beloved Jesus on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at the age of 77. He was privileged to serve Lutheran Churches in Ashland, OH, Saginaw, MI, Brazil, and Oak Harbor, OH, as well as Providence and Bethel in Toledo. What we loved most about Jon was his graciousness, humility, and acceptance. He loved God’s Church and her people. He laughed with people in their joy, and cried with them in their pain. He was who he was, true to the values of his Loving God. The honor was all ours to have known him. Pastor Jon is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Bonnie; his brother, Edward (Diane) Bell; children, Heidi Bell, Heather (Marti) Frisch, and Joshua (Heather) Bell, as well as 11 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Malcolm Bell of Scotland, and his mother, Bertha Ziegelhofer Bell, of Massillon, OH. A celebration of Pastor Jon’s life will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, October 15, 2021 at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, 122 Ottawa St., Oak Harbor, with Pastor Becky Bolander officiating. Interment will be at Salem Township Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor, at a later date. Following the service, a time of fellowship will be held at the church.
