Oren L. Galloway, 70, of Marblehead, Ohio died Thursday, November 20, 2008 at his residence. He was born on July 20, 1938 in Parkersburg, West Virginia, the son of the late Harold and Grace (Bishoff) Galloway. He was a 1956 graduate of Sandusky High School. In October of 1961, he joined the United States Coast Guard and served until he was honorably discharged and then remained active in the reserves until 1969. He then went to work as a newspaper reporter for the Bellevue Gazette for many years, and then worked as a merchant seaman for Zapata Marine where he towed icebergs in Greenland and Iceland. He loved being out on the water. His passion and devotion in life was taking care of animals, especially his cats. Surviving are his sister: Wanda (George) Bell, of North Canton, Ohio; two nieces, one nephew, and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents. Per Oren's request, there will be no visitation or services as cremation has taken place. Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Ottawa County or Sandusky County.
