Ordell "Bud" Starkey, 83, of Graytown, Ohio, and Ruskin, Florida, died Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg, Ohio. Bud was born in Toledo, Ohio on December 11, 1927, a son of Guy & Audra (Mohler) Starkey. He was a retired floor mechanic and supervisor for Turner-Brooks in Toledo. Bud was a member and past council member of St. Peter Lutheran Church (Blackberry), Martin, Ohio, and was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, Lodge #1610, Port Clinton. He previously was an assistant Scout Master of Boy Scout Troop #333, Rocky Ridge. An avid bowler, Bud was a member of the Oak Harbor Bowling Association, and enjoyed square dancing with the Plaids & Calicos. He was the current president of the Yost Mobile Home Park, Ruskin, Florida. On March 26, 1949, Bud married the former Athalee Blausey, and she survives. Also surviving are his children, Kenneth (Kathy) Starkey, Oak Harbor, Ohio, and Judy (Wes) Gahler, Graytown, Ohio; sisters, Louise Hughes, Toledo, and Joan Ustazewski, Marion, Ohio; grandchildren, Michael (Nancee) Starkey, Matthew (Nicky) Starkey, David (Lindsay) Gahler, Mark Starkey, Allen (Susie) Gahler, Marty (Christina) Starkey, and Jody (Joe) Kapp; great-grandchildren, Shelby Starkey, Sarah Starkey, Samantha Starkey, Brooklynn Starkey, AlmaLee Hayden Starkey, Wade Kapp, Lane Kapp, Lilly Gahler, Addy Gahler, and Griff Gahler. Bud was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, James Starkey. The family will receive friends from 2-8 P.M. Thursday at the Crosser Funeral Home, Oak Harbor. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday at St. Peter Lutheran Church (Blackberry), Martin. Rev. Monty Kaufman will officiate, and interment will follow in Elliston Cemetery, Elliston, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter Lutheran Church.
