Ofelia G. Livas, 87, of Port Clinton, Ohio died Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at Ottawa County Riverview Nursing Home, Oak Harbor, with her loving family by her side. She was born on October 7, 1924 in Rio Grande, Texas, the daughter of the late Hilario and Antonia (Gonzalez) Garza, Sr.. She married Juan G. Livas on January 8, 1942 and he preceded her in death on September 22, 2011. During her working years, she worked in the housekeeping department at Magruder Hospital in Port Clinton. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Port Clinton where she was a sacristan, volunteering to help clean the church for many years. She enjoyed flower gardening, yardwork, spending time with family and friends, dancing with Juan, sewing, and cooking. Above all, she loved her grandchildren. Survivors include her sons: Eugenio "Gene" Livas, Port Clinton; Ernesto "Ernie" Livas, Richmond, Virginia; daughters: Juanita L. "Janie" Ramos, San Antonio, Texas; Guadalupe L. "Lupe" (Joe) Villalon, Marblehead, Ohio; Margot L. "Margo" McCann, Catawba Island; Belia L. "Bell" (Bruce) Below, Port Clinton; 16 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandson on the way; brothers: Hilario Garza, Jr., Dallas, Texas; Alfredo, Chano, Jesus Garza, all of Alamo, Texas; sisters: Julia Olivarez, Herlinda Aleman, Hortencia Ortiz, Maria Luisa Ortiz, Leticia Gonzalez, Teresa Garcia, all of Alamo, Texas and Otila Martinez, Bay City, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother: Flavio Garza and sisters: Guadalupe Ozuna and Sofia Canche. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 18, 2012 from 2-4 and 6-8pm at the Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, 1124 Fulton Street, Port Clinton. On Monday, March 19, 2012, prayers will begin at the funeral home at 9:30am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 414 Madison Street, Port Clinton with Father John C. Missler officiating. Burial will follow at LaCarpe Cemetery, Lacarne, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to Riverview Nursing Home, the Ohio Veteran's Home or to Heartland Hospice.
