Norman A. Rochester

Norman August Rochester, 98, of Fremont, OH died Monday, January 04, 2016 at Elmwood Assisted Living in Fremont. He was born October 12, 1917 in Oak Harbor, OH to the late August and Nettie (Wenger) Rochester. On October 27, 1946 he married the former Ruth Stuart who preceded him in death February 21, 2009. Norm loved all sports, especially golfing, bowling & fishing. He was a big fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes. He was an avid bridge player and was a member of the "American Contract Bridge League". Norm loved to work outdoors and kept his yard and garden looking beautiful. Norm worked in Quality Control at Whirlpool Corporation for 30 years retiring in 1984. He and his wife spent their winters in Ft. Myers, FL for 21 years. He was a member of Seventh-day Adventist Church in Sandusky, OH. Survivors include his daughter Cindy (Doug) Harris of Methuen, MA; daughter- in- law Laura Rochester (friend Allen Hancock) of Valparaiso, IN; grandchildren: Ryan (Dawn) Rochester and Tracy (Ira) Biggs; great- grandchildren Kaitlyn and Keira Rochester and Carter and Brinley Biggs. He was also preceded in death by son Ray Rochester; brothers Melvin and Lester Rochester. Funeral Services will begin at 11am Thursday, January 7, 2016 at the Crosser Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Oak Harbor where the family will receive friends beginning at 10am. Burial will be in Salem Twp. Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor. In Lieu of Flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to Seventh-day Adventist Church, 3204 Venice Road, Sandusky, OH 44870.
