Norma June "Onnie" Balduf Monak

Norma June "Onnie" Balduf Monak, 84, of Marblehead, Ohio passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Saturday, October 3, 2015 at her daughter's residence. She was born on September 12, 1931 in Port Clinton, Ohio, the daughter of the late Ralph and Molly (Risch) Balduf. Onnie formerly worked as a custodian at Danbury High School, and also at Standard Products in Port Clinton, retiring in 1996 at age 65. She was a member of the UAW Local 497 in Port Clinton, and also a Life Member of the Marblehead VFW Post 7572 Auxiliary, where she was very active. She enjoyed baking, cooking, working bloodmobiles, fundraising events, and doing anything needed of her. She was famous for her ground bologna sandwiches and chicken salad. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and will be deeply missed by all. Survivors include her daughters: Debbie (Michael) Garrard and Cheryl Monak, both of Marblehead; grandchildren: Holly Garrard, Jessica Garrard (Lenny Benyak), Emily (Brandon) Hart, Amanda Monak (Joe Callaway), Sarah (Mike) Tibbets, and Melissa Monak; great-grandchildren: Seth Garber, Michael Garber, Grace Garber, Kasjia Gray, Syrus Callaway, Jacob Tibbets, Morgan Tibbets and Taytum Benyak. She was preceded in death by her parents; son: Thomas "Tobi" Monak; brothers: Alfred, Wilbur and Nelson Balduf; and sisters: Dorothy Holcomb, Elda Mae Hofacker, Peggy Patz. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 from 2-4 and 6-8pm at the Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, Peninsula Chapel, 7755 E. Harbor Road, Lakeside-Marblehead, Ohio where members of the VFW Post 7572 Auxiliary will conduct services at 7pm. Additional visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, October 7, 2015 from 10am until funeral services at 11am with Denny Coles officiating. Burial will follow in Sackett Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Marblehead VFW Post 7572 Auxiliary.
