Norma J. Taylor, 84, of Lakeside, OH died May 15, 2009 at Magruder Hospital, Port Clinton, OH. She was born August 23, 1924 in Anderson, IN the daughter of Leo and Jennie (Dusang) Gill. She married Jack Taylor on June 13, 1944 and he preceded her in death on January 9, 2009. Mrs. Taylor was a 1942 graduate of Anderson High School; she attended DePauw University in Greencastle, IN and Ball State in Muncie, IN. Norma and Jack were the owner/operators of the Willoughby Hardware from 1949 until 1968. She was a member of the Willoughby United Methodist Church where she was active on the finance committee. While living in New Jersey she worked for Attorney Andy Wilson. Mrs. Taylor was known for her enlightening book reviews while she was living in Elyria, New Jersey and Lakeside. She was a member of the Lakeside United Methodist Church where she was active on the finance committee. After retirement Norma and Jack moved to North Shore Retirement Village in Lakeside where she was the Sec/Treas. for the Residence Council of North Shore. Norma enjoyed collecting American Indian baskets, jewelry and Navajo Kachina dolls. She also enjoyed quilting, sewing, and making mink articulated Teddy Bears. Cooking and home entertaining were her fortes. Norma played piano recitals as a teenager, played at special functions at nursing homes and churches where she and Jack were associated, and also taught piano to individual students. Norma was an active volunteer with "First Call for Help of Ottawa County". Norma and Jack supported many needy people with their time, efforts, and financial support. Norma and Jack both loved their family deeply and supported them in any way possible until their final days. Surviving are her sons: James G. (Evelyn) of Blue Springs, MO, Jeffrey G. (Michelle) of Tiffin, OH; grandchildren: Heather Taylor, Jason Taylor, Melanie (Sam) Park, Jay Taylor; great-grandson: Jonah Taylor. She was preceeded in death by her infant daughter: Christine Marie Taylor and husband Jack. Memorial services will be conducted 11:00 am June 11, 2009 at Lakeside United Methodist Church with Rev. Jerry Phelps and Rev. Tom Taylor officiating. Additional services will be held 10:0 am Friday, June 12, 2009 at Willoughby United Methodist Church with entombment to follow in the Willoughby Columbarium. Memorial contributions may be given to Lakeside United Methodist Church or First Call for Help of Ottawa County.
