Norah M. Bird, 91, of Marblehead, OH died Wednesday, September, 20, 2017 at her home. She was born October 7, 1925 in Port Clinton, the daughter of Edward J. and Norma M. (Navarre) Flynn. She spent most of her childhood with her father and step-mother Edward and Mary (Herr) Flynn. She married John J. Bird on December 20, 1944. Surviving are her sons: Dennis Willard (Marguerite) Bird of Marblehead, John Edward (Alice) Bird of Chevy Chase, MD, Kevin Christopher (Colleen) Bird of Marblehead; grandchildren: Mary Bird, John (Tamara) Bird, Meegan Bird, Kathryn (Tom Eubig) Bird, Brittany (Marty) Baird, Courtney (Brenden Sheridan) Bird; great-grandchildren: Joseph Bird, Fiona Bird, Matilda Eubig, Norah Eubig, Oliver Eubig, Brynn Baird and Madison Sheridan; brother: Keith (Marie) Flynn of Peabody, MA; sisters: Jeanne Monak of Marblehead, Sharon (Tom) Guba of Sandusky, Joyce Uhinck of Manitoa Beach, MI. She was preceded in death by her husband John, father and step-mother Edward and Mary Flynn, mother Norma, brothers: Lawrence and Terrance Flynn. She worked as a waitress at Kern's Restaurant, Rainbow Inn, and R. G. Grill. During World War II she left school at age 17 and was the first woman to work on the Jeep assembly line. She worked at Philco Co. and the United States Post Office in Marblehead retiring in 1990. She earned her GED in the 1970's. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Marblehead where she was a member and past-president of the Altar Rosary Society and a Eucharistic Minister. Visitation will be Sunday from 12:00 4:00 pm with Rosary prayer services at 3:30 pm at Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Peninsula Chapel, 7755 E. Harbor Rd. LakesideMarblehead, OH. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father James Brown at 10:30 am Monday, September 25, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Marblehead where her body will lie in state from 9:30 am until the time of the Mass. Interment will be in St. Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to St. Joseph Catholic Church Altar Rosary Society.
