Nora Schmiel

Nora Schmiel, 79, of Marblehead, OH and formerly of Strongsville, OH died Friday, August 20, 2010 at Stein Hospice, Sandusky, OH. She was born April 7, 1931 in Cleveland, the daughter of Clyde and Winifred (Hynes) Hach. She married Paul C. Schmiel in 1950 and he preceded her in death on July 4, 2010. Mrs. Schmiel was a member of St Joseph Catholic Church, Marblehead, OH where she had previously been active in the choir. She graduated from the Parma School of Nursing and was a LPN at Aristocrat South in Parma. She and her husband owned and operated Maplewood Cove in Marblehead, and they previously owned and operated a Dairy Queen in Strongsville and Mike's Place in Marblehead. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, crafts and painting. She volunteered for the Red Cross of Ottawa County. Surviving are her daughters: Bonita (John) Heyman of Lorain, Judith (Michael) Baker of Sandusky, Susan (James) Cawrse of Chesapeake, VA, Debbie (Glenn) Roderick of Parma; nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren and a brother Norman Hach. She was preceded by her husband, grandson: Charles Heyman; sisters: Irene Pfingsten and Evelyn Keiger. A Memorial Mass will be conducted at 10:30 am Saturday, September 11, 2010 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Marblehead, OH. Memorial contributions may be given to Stein Hospice 1220 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870. Arrangements are under the direction of the Peninsula Chapel of Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home.
