Niler E. Mccormick

Niler E. McCormick, 75, of Port Clinton, OH, died Friday, May 4, 2007 at Riverview Health Care Campus, Oak Harbor. She was born December 9, 1931 in Iuka, Mississippi to the late J.D. and Liza (Nichols) Ables. She married Ezekiel Nix who preceded her in death in 1978. On November 27, 1980 she married James McCormick in Port Clinton, OH and he survives. Mrs. McCormick was a homemaker, and worked for the former Ottawa County Riverview Nursing Home as a Nurses Assistant for several years. Niler loved her garden, being in it, growing it, and nature it provided. She also loved to grow flowers and was an avid collector of antiques. Survivors include her husband James of Port Clinton, sons, Howard (Sandra) and Dwayne Ballard both of Oak Harbor, daughters, Linda Nix of Toledo, OH, Cindy (Ross) Aldridge of Oak Harbor, Joyce (Richard) Gates of Oak Harbor, Peggy (Montgomery) Rex of Curtice, OH, and Nina (Roger) Aldridge of Gibsonburg, OH; sister Clara Williams of Red Bay, AL; 13 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, son Prestel Nix, granddaughter, Stephanie Ballard, great-granddaughter Hannah Aldridge, 1 brother and 2 sisters. The family will receive friends from 4-8 P.M. Sunday at the Crosser Funeral Home, Oak Harbor, where funeral services will be held at 1 P.M. Monday. Rev. Tom Goosen will officiate and interment will be in LaCarpe Cemetery, Erie Township. Memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice.
