Nancy (Mireles) Benavides, 80 formerly of Elmore, Ohio was called home to join Christ on Friday, September 19, 2014. She was born February 26, 1934 in Fentress, TX to the late Merced and Delores (Leos) Mireles. Nancy first started working at the Elmore Basket Factory in 1953. She then managed the Holiday Inn located in Stony Ridge, Ohio. In 1999, she retired from Riverview Health Care Campus in Oak Harbor, Ohio in the dietary division. She was an associate member of the Sisters of St. Francis of Sylvania, Ohio. Nancy loved spending time with her family and enjoyed dancing, long walks, cleaning, shopping, and playing bingo. She had a miraculous faith and personal relationship with Jesus Christ. She prayed for others and always helped those in need. She was a generous, fun-loving, independent, and inspirational woman. She was charismatic and was always thinking of others. She was an amazing, Mother, friend, and confidant to her children and they would speak multiple times per day. She was positive and optimistic and her laughter was contagious. Survivors include her children: Henry (Gloria) Benavides, Dorothy (Merritt) Bixler, and Sophia Fisher; brothers: Marvin (Charlene) Mireles, Alvin (Marty) Mireles, and Gene (Maria) Mireles; sisters: Kathy (Tom) Leyden and Joan (Rick) Ashline; 5 grandchildren, 15 great- grandchildren, and 1 great- great grandson. She was preceded in death by sons: Elvis and Christopher and 2 grandsons, Vincent and Johnny. Memorial Mass for family and friends will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 26, 2014 at Queen of Peace Chapel, Sisters of St. Francis, 6832 Convent Blvd., Sylvania, OH 43560 (located on Lourdes College Campus). Those wishing to attend are asked to wear purple as it was Nancy's favorite color. Burial will be private in Clay Township Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to Sisters of St. Francis of Sylvania, Ohio.
