Nancy J. Linker

September 27, 1934 — November 18, 2015

Nancy J. Linker, 81, of Oak Harbor, Ohio passed away peacefully Wednesday evening, November 18, 2015 surrounded by her loving family at Elmwood Assisted Living in Fremont, Ohio. Nancy was born on September 27, 1934, in Port Clinton, Ohio, the daughter of George and Leona (Perry) Dewey. On January 1, 1955, she married Leland E. Linker and he survives. As a self-taught businesswoman, she served for more than 40 years as an energetic representative of the Avon Company, winning numerous awards, trips and recognition for her hard work, dedication and sales performance. Nancy had a deep interest in all things financial. She dutifully checked the newspaper each day for financial news updates and to track various stocks and bonds. For 20 years she was also a landlord for an apartment complex and hair salon in Oak Harbor. She took great pride in furnishing the apartment units she rented with beautiful antiques that she carefully selected and often re-finished herself. Nancy and Lee also own a cottage in Lakeside, Ohio. She loved to spend her summer months in Lakeside reminiscing with lifelong friends and family and lovingly tending to her prized Geraniums that seemed to grow more beautiful with each passing year. Nancy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and a devoted friend. The family would like to especially thank the staff at Elmwood, who provided the highest level of love and compassion to Nancy while she was a resident. They would also like to thank ProMedica Hospice for their loving care of Nancy. She will be greatly missed. She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, Oak Harbor and enjoyed going to mass every Sunday. Nancy is survived by her husband of 60 years, Leland E. Linker, Oak Harbor; daughters Kim (Mike) Detzel, Oak Harbor, Ohio; Lisa Linker, Atlanta, Georgia; and son, Doug (Tara) Linker, Genoa, Ohio; twin grandchildren, Adeline and Brady Linker, and sister, Dorothy Bassett, Catawba Island. She is also survived by many special nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Carolyn A. Fic. Relatives and friends will be received 2-8 p.m., Sunday, November 22, 2015 at Crosser Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 301 N. Locust St., Oak Harbor, where a parish wake service will be held at 7:30 P.M. Sunday.
