Myron L. DeMars, 92, formerly of Oak Harbor, OH and Bay Township Area, died Thursday, March 31, 2016 at Firelands Regional Medical Center, Sandusky, OH. He was born July 16, 1923 in Bay Township, OH to the late Fred and Olive (Gross) DeMars. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II serving overseas in the 2nd Armored Division throughout 5 different countries. Mike was a farmer and commercial fisherman for 41 years and also owned and operated the Oak Harbor Hotel which he purchased in 1965. He held memberships in The Fremont Moose Lodge, Oak Harbor Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #8732, Oak Harbor American Legion Post #114, and the DeMars Hunting Club. Survivors include his children Donald (Cheryle) DeMars of Fremont, OH and Karen (Alan) Gerwin of Frankston, TX; step- son George (Marge) St. Bonore of Oak Harbor; 9 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and 11 great- great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife Thelma M. (Stull), second wife Glola (Humphrey), and longtime companion Beryle A. St. Bonore- Fic, brothers: Stanley and Laurel DeMars and great-great grandchild Landon. Visitation will be Monday from 2-8pm with the family present 2-4 & 6-8 at the Crosser Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Oak Harbor Chapel. Funeral Services will begin at 11am Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in Salem Twp. Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor. Memorial Contributions may be made to Stein Hospice.
