Morris L. Worthington, 83, of Oak Harbor, OH, died Thursday evening at his home. He was born in Oak Harbor, a son of Perry & Cora (Stanger) Worthington. Morris was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, and was a past commander and firing squad member of John A. Fader Post #114 of the American Legion. He was also a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, Oak Harbor. Active in Masonic organizations, Morris was a member and trustee of Oak Harbor Lodge #495, F. Oak Harbor Chapter #161, Royal Arch Masons; Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Toledo, Zenobia Shrine, and the Ottawa County Shrine Club, of which he was a past president. Morris was an engineer for the Ohio Department of Transportation for many years, and also was the owner and operator of Worthington Excavating. He married the former Ruth L. Schultz on November 20, 1943, and she preceded him in death on December 19, 2002. Surviving are his sons, Larry (Lin) Worthington, Oak Harbor, Thomas (Grace) Worthington, Port Clinton; granddaughters, Lisa (Brad) Derr, Plainfield, IL, Kimberlee (Bobby) Houghton, Columbus, OH; grandson, Skylour; great-grandsons, Dakota and Daulton Derr; his special friend and companion, Donna Brough, Oak Harbor, and her loving family. Morris was preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Lee; sisters, Opal Atwater, Edith Worthington, Geraldine Recktenwald, Sylvia Calopy; and brothers, Edward, Walter, and Everett Worthington. The family will receive friends from 2-9 P.M. Sunday at the Crosser Funeral Home, Oak Harbor, where Masonic services will be held at 7:00 P.M. Sunday. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. David A. Voll officiating. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor, with American Legion Post #114 conducting military graveside rites.
