Michael T. Piechocki, 86, of Lakeside, OH, died Tuesday, April 4, 2006 at Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky, OH. He was born August 6, 1919 in Baltimore, MD, a son of the late George and Agnes (Kwasneck) Piechocki. He married Marcella Sauvey on September 6, 1941 and she preceded him in death on August 30, 2002. Mr. Piechocki was an electrician for General Motors New Departure Plant, Sandusky, OH for 34 years, retiring in 1983. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Marblehead, where he was active as a server, Eucharistic Minister, lector, and a home visitor. He was a United States Coast Guard veteran serving in World War II. Mr. Piechocki was a member of V.F.W. Post 7572, Marblehead, where he was currently serving as chaplain and was a past commander. He was a member of American Legion Post 555, Marblehead; Knights of Columbus; past Cub Scout Master; Danbury Senior Center where he was active in the choir and he was an original member of “The Donut Gang” at Jill’s Bakery. Previously Mr. Piechocki played movies at the Marblehead V.F.W. for kids to enjoy. Surviving are his daughter: Renee (Carl) Uhinck of Lakeside; sons: Jerry (Jane) Piechocki of Lakeside, Joseph Piechocki of Detroit, MI, Michael (Judy) Piechocki, Jr of Rock Hill, SC; ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife: Marcella; daughter: Bonnie Myers; two brothers and two sisters. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Saturday, April 8, 2006 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Marblehead, OH. with the Rev. James Brown as celebrant. The family will receive friends from 2-4 & 7-9 P.M. Friday at the Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, Peninsula Chapel, Lakeside-Marblehead, OH. Additional visitation will be held Saturday at the church from 9:00 am until the time of the Mass. Prayer services will be conducted at 8:30 PM Friday in the funeral home by the Rev. James Brown. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Marblehead, with graveside military rites under the direction of V.F.W. Post 7572. Memorial contributions may be given to St. Joseph Catholic Church or V.F.W.
